Jennifer Graf, MSW
I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (psychotherapist) for over 20 years and a “life” coach for over 30 years. I work with individuals, couples and families of all ages, religions and ethnicities. Together we explore tender areas of suffering, and discover authentic ways to communicate, loving ways to experience ourselves and our relationships and manageable ways to practice self-care.
I got into the field of mind body medicine through an unexpected door. Once an advertising copywriter, I faced impossible deadlines, and public speaking created intense anxiety for me. I began to suffer from panic attacks and insomnia and developed unhealthy coping mechanisms. When I found Reiki in my late 20’s, and was shown how to practice this modality on myself, a new world of healing was born in me. For the first time in my life, I was no longer a victim of circumstance, but the owner of mind-body healing power for myself. My panic attacks disappeared, and sleep became my restorative friend once more.
In our first session together, you and I will establish a therapeutic alliance. In subsequent sessions I use the lost art of listening. And instead of listening TO you, I listen FOR the longing, for your truths, for your reasons for coming to therapy. I listen for what’s possible in our work together so that you can have the life you say you want.
Over the years I have accumulated a versatile toolbox. Using a blend of mind-body and cognitive-behavioral therapy, we explore your thoughts and how they shape the way you feel and behave. We develop new patterns of behaviors and thoughts and when resistance to change occurs, we explore that as well. Everyone’s path to success is individual and unfolds in an organic, unique way.
